Registered Public Health Nursing

Registered Public Health Nursing

3 Years

The Diploma in Registered Public Health Nursing (RPHN) in Ghana, regulated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), is a professional program focused on community health, disease prevention, and health promotion. Candidates must meet WASSCE/SSSCE entry requirements, pass a licensing exam, and register to receive a Personal Identification Number (PIN) for legal practice

Requirements:

Applicants must fulfill the following according to the NMC Ghana guidelines: WASSCE/SSSCE: Applicants must have an aggregate of 48 or better (WASSCE) or 30 or better (SSSCE) in six subjects. Core Subjects: Credits (A1-C6 in WASSCE, A-D in SSSCE) or at least passes (A1-E8) depending on specific admission years in English, Mathematics, and Integrated Science. Elective Subjects: Credit passes in three elective subjects. Age: Applicants should generally be between 18-35 years.

NURSE ASSISTANT (PREVENTIVE)

NURSE ASSISTANT (PREVENTIVE)

2 years

The Certificate in Nurse Assistant (Preventive) (NAP)—formerly Community Health Nursing—is a two-year Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) of Ghana program. It trains multi-purpose health workers to provide community-oriented health services and primary care within the Sub-District Health Team.

Requirements:

Candidates must meet the following criteria: WASSCE/SSSCE: A total aggregate of forty-eight (48) or better in WASSCE, or thirty-six (36) or better in SSSCE. Core Subjects: Minimum credit passes (A1-E8 for WASSCE, A-E for SSSCE) in English, Mathematics, and Integrated Science. Elective Subjects: Minimum credit passes in three elective subjects (Science, Arts, Home Economics, or Agriculture options). Age: 16-35 years (Applicants over 35 must be serving officers with employer letters). Combination: A combination of SSSCE and WASSCE results is not accepted.

  • Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSCE) or West African Senior School Certificate (WASSCE)
  • Credit passes (A1-C6) in English Language
  • Credit passes (A1-C6) in Mathematics
  • Credit passes (A1-C6) in Integrated Science
  • Credit passes in two (2) elective science subjects
  • Aggregate score of 24 or better
  • Minimum age of 18 years at admission

  • Medical fitness certificate from recognized hospital
  • Character reference from reputable person
  • Birth certificate or proof of age
  • Two recent passport-sized photographs
  • Completed application form
